I Wrote That

a little jacket and dress that was given to my mom when she had me. but it was too small for her so she let me wear it. jk. my mom’s comments about the dress were 2:

1. it was dry clean only. who buys baby clothes that are dry cleaned only? unheard of.

2. the women who gave it to her was married to a crop duster, who while flying saw a man drowning in a canal. so he landed his plane, got out, saved the man from drowning and then drowned himself. seriously.

my sister & cieran & my mom came by yesterday. sueanna put together the crib she gave me and hung up a lot of baby clothes that she had given me. all the while cieran had the run of the house after locking sassy up in my bedroom.

as you can see that any child i get will need to be a girl or really like pink. either that or i need to meet more people with young boys who want to donate BOY clothes to a good cause!

the crib has been lovingly autographed used by my niece.

first off, let’s just ignore the fact that i didn’t post a daily photo yesterday. okay, moving on.

yesterday as i drove home i saw this person sitting in their motorized wheel chair under an umbrella fishing along the canal. although it was quite warm, it looked very relaxing.

after i took the first picture i noticed that further on down the canal there were a few kids swimming. with adult supervision if that even matters, may actually make it worse. but they seemed to be having a blast. with one kid taking a running leap from many feet back to enter the water with style. see him in the air under the sign?

i know everyone is feeling the squeeze of the always increasing gas prices. we are lucky enough that the prices have been stable for the past few days at the low price of $3.99.

i think the arco across town might even be $3.97. these low prices make it so that we can continue to drive our big suv’s just a little bit longer. at least longer than those in california who are forced to park their huge gas guzzlers and ride public transportation or walk. but most people don’t want to be incovenienced that way, so keep upping the prices big gas companies, you know we’ll pay it!

my path to work has been interrupted both coming and going last week and into this week. i’m sure the sign guys are dreading the heat that is coming. it was 87 degrees this morning at 7:30am. yes in the morning. we are supposed to have a cold front move in and the temps should be around 108 tomorrow. lol it’s a cool down!

all the work of gathering, buying, attending, filling out has come down to one sentences, 21 words. i’m now a licensed foster care home for 1-2 kids ages 0-3 years. can you say nervous? i mean REALLY nervous. i can’t stop thinking about how unprepared i am. and mostly about how i have no idea how this is going to go and what will happen with the first placement. the unknown is killing me. the only thing keeping me from losing my mind completely is what my worker told me about the other foster families (2) have gotten no placements yet because of the new cps policy. if i didn’t know that i would be jumping out of my skin each and everytime the phone rang.

my list of things has just got re-prioritized.

there are a couple of squirrels that visit our backyards. they run around the neighborhood looking cute while looking for snacks. i’m always a little stunned when i see one of them hopping across the road, sitting on the fence or scaling the wall of the house. (they can climb stucco by the way!) to me squirrels seem like a mountainous dweller that we would see while summer vacation camping in the white mountains or back east in the densely wooded suburban areas. not in an oasis of city in the midst of the sonoran desert!

the last couple of weeks have shown a dramatic rise in page views. search results point to a few pictures and mentions during the april blog everyday thing i did about letters. specifically unicorns, sawyer from lost, and the juggernaut of the movie 13 ghosts. i don’t think all these people are reading very much…just enough to figure out that they aren’t interested in what i wrote about unicorns, sawyer from lost and the juggernaut of movie 13 ghosts.
